Our ESG principals serve as a framework for evaluating the environmental, social and governance of this project
The Rutherglen Battery Project is guided by strong Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, reflecting the combined commitment of the development team and AMPYR Australia, a global leader in clean energy. Our principles serve as the framework for evaluating and executing the project in a responsible, sustainable, and ethical manner.
Environmental
Minimizing Impact: We are committed to using leading technological solutions to minimise land disturbance and visual impact while maximising land use efficiency. The facility is strategically located within disturbed, non-remnant vegetation.
Responsible Land Use: The core infrastructure occupies a small portion of the 1,277-hectare site, allowing the vast majority of the land to continue supporting existing rural activities, such as cattle grazing.
End-of-Life Planning: At the end of the project's economic life, we intend to recycle all materials and return the site to its current condition.
Social
Respect for Country: We are dedicated to developing the project in a manner that is respectful to Country, cultural heritage, and the Traditional Owners of this land (the Bailai, Gurang, Gooreng Gooreng, and Taribelang peoples). We are committed to partnering with Indigenous communities to create lasting economic empowerment.
Local Support: We are committed to supporting the local community through a Community Benefit Fund once the project is established.
Local Employment: We will prioritize employing a local workforce and using local suppliers whenever possible during the construction and operational phases.
Governance
Accountability and Transparency: We are committed to project governance which supports principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical practice.
Regulatory Adherence: We plan to regularly report on environmental and social impacts, ensuring strict adherence to all relevant regulations and standards.
Stakeholder Engagement: We commit to meaningful stakeholder engagement throughout the project’s lifecycle, ensuring local voices and concerns are integrated into our decision-making process.
